CINAHL Continuing Education Unit (CEU) Module FAQs

What are CINAHL Continuing Education Unit Modules?

Actively practicing nursing, social work, and allied health professionals are required to continue their education in order to remain licensed. Continuing education (CE) requirements vary by employer and state. Many US states and other countries have no absolute requirement for CE hours, but individual hospitals might have specific requirements for their employees. Learners may wish to check with their licensing or regulatory body as to content requirements.

CINAHL CE modules are interactive educational modules that allow nurses, social work, and allied health professionals to satisfy CE requirements online. They contain the latest topics on patient care and drug administration. Each CE module consists of course material, an interactive review, and a competency test with a certificate of completion.

Can medical assistants (MAs) take the continuing education modules found in the CINAHL Complete, CINAHL Plus, and Nursing Reference Center products?

The continuing education modules, which are available from Nursing Reference Center and/or CINAHL Complete and CINAHL Plus products, are designed for nurses. That said, a medical assistant could find value in the courses that are provided, and perhaps it may be true that medical assisting organizations would accept courses for completion, wherein the provider is approved by IACET or ANCC, but the courses are not made specifically to meet the needs of a medical assistant. Therefore, we would recommend that other continuing education modules may be more appropriate for MAs.
